Oregon Winter Open Chess Tournament

Format
This event features five rounds using a 25minute 5second delayed time control, offering a balanced pace suitable for both experienced competitors and newer players. USCF‑rated Open Section for players with active memberships.

Schedule
Check‑in runs from 9:00 to 9:30 AM, and all players must be present by 9:30 to be paired for the first round. Round one begins at 10:00 AM.  Awards will be presented following tournament rounds.

Entry Fees
There is an early bird registration at $35, regular registration at $40, and late registration at $50. All registration will be handled through ChessRoster.com

Prizes & Awards
$400 total cash prize available to top finishers.
$200 for first place + a spot in the Eugene Summer Classic Invitational.
$125 for second place.
$75 for third place.
Trophies and awards for the following categories, Top Female Player, Top Junior (U18), Top Senior (50+), Top Under 1800, Top Under 1600, Top Under 1400, Top Under 1200, Top Under 1000, Top Under 600.
Prize fund is guaranteed at $400 based on a 64‑player field and will increase if registration exceeds this number. 

Location
The tournament will be held at the Lane Event Center. 796 W 13th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402. The space provides a comfortable and quiet place, a focused environment ideal for competitive play.

Requirements
All Players must have an active USCF membership, as all games will be submitted for official rating. Learn more about US chess membership here (link).

Tournament Director
A certified USCF Chief Tournament Director will oversee the event to ensure fair play, accurate pairings, and smooth operation throughout the day. This event abides by the 7th edition of the US Chess Rulebook.

Equipment
Please bring your own board and clock to ensure there are enough boards for all players. Some clocks will be available, but we ask that players bring their own delay capable clocks to ensure enough for all those who play.


Food Policy
A one hour lunch break will be provided. Players are responsible for their own meals and may wish to plan ahead, as nearby restaurants can be busy during peak hours. Personal snacks, water bottle and packed lunch are recommended.
